Another thing which makes them quite blatantly a step above the others is their reaction to complaints made about the sale of BUTT magazine (a gay lifestyle magazine) in their stores. They didn't do what almost all other big brand stores would do (apologise publicly and remove the magazine from the shelves) but instead they bluntly refused to act on these complaints in any way.
There are usually big downsides to these amazingly refreshing things, like the clothes are crap, but, thank god, there is no catch here. I personally love American Apparel, especially the new bunch of stuff that's been brought out for Spring, including the extensive range of leggings in all colours patterns and textures.
